Morning Vibes With Dr. Jerry - the First
Hello and welcome to
#MorningVibesWithDrJerryTheFirst-Episode 86
Title: Stop
Creating Your Own Storms!!
He
was 18 when he fell in love with a girl of 16; his Mother warned him not to toe
the line of his Father who got her pregnant at 17 and then died just before he
was born leaving her all alone to bear the burden of raising him. But before
the saliva of those words could dry on her lips and just before anyone could say Jack, the
girl was pregnant and he ended up marrying her. He was yet to be through with
College (he was paying his tuition with College Loan) infact neither of them
was yet through with College and so they could not afford to rent their own
house and thus had to live with his Mum. The girl had to drop out of College to
have the baby while he continued with College. His Mother advised him to take a
break from child bearing, finish College, get a job and start saving money for
his family and also to be able to repay the College Loan he took. But, before
the 1st baby was 18 months, she was pregnant again; by the time he was through
with College, they had 3 kids, apparently he had neglected his Mother's advise.
By the time he came out from College, he needed to get a job to start looking
after his family and to start paying back the College loan. He noticed that the
pay from one job was not enough to do what he wants to do and so he had to take
a second job. He worked so hard that he had no life after work and no social
life either. All his earnings went into supporting his young family and paying
back the College loan. His stress became so much that it transcended to the
family, he had no time to bond with the kids, and started picking quarrels with
the wife. One night they had a huge fight which led to his Mother intervening
but that was to be catastrophic because as soon as his Mother tried to separate
him and his wife, he pushed her, she fell and knocked her head on the hard
stool in the living room and passed out. They called 911 and by the time she
was taken to the Hospital, she had gone into a coma. All efforts made by the
attending Physicians to resuscitate her failed. 72 hours later, she passed on.
The death of his mother compounded his woes because the Mortgage Company that
has the house on mortgage came around and told him that his mother's mortgage
payment had fallen into arrears of 6 months and that he had 30 days to pay up
the arrears and also continue payment to retain the home. The quarrel in the
house increased in tempo each time he was back from work, his kids became
afraid of him, he blamed everything and everybody for his woes and threatened
to divorce the woman if she did not start earning money any which way. The
woman had to seek the attention of a Marriage Counselor because the matter had
gone out of hand and in the first session, the Counselor asked the man if he
knew that he was the architect of his own misfortune? that he created the storm
that was about to blow him and his family away? The Counselor asked him that if
he had listened to his mother after he had his first child, did he think his
situation would have been like as it is in the present?, to which he replied in
the negative and when the Counselor had completely analyzed and diagnosed his
mistakes and where he started failing, he could not but shed tears of
bitterness and so he was advised not to transfer his aggression to his wife and
children for a matter that he caused. How about you, can you relate to this
real life story? can you check around you now, are there storms in your life
which are a direct consequence of your actions in the past? The storms of your
past come confronting you, do not shift the blame to another.
