Morning Vibes With Dr. Jerry - the First

Hello and welcome to #MorningVibesWithDrJerryTheFirst-Episode 152

Title:          10 Highly Essential Ways To Prepare For A Successful Day

As we all know, to be successful at anything requires work and effort; therefore to really have a successful day will always require a good dose of effort and some proper work.

Here's my list of how to prepare to have a successful day

1.      Get An Early Start

It used to be said in the days when we were young that "early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise" I don't know if it is still a popular saying these days but the words are really apt.

Your early start is totally dependent on what time you have to report at your work place. If you are a Nigerian and you are employed, the chances are that you work from 8 am to 4 pm, to be able to get to your work place by at least five minutes to 8 o' clock, you would need to be out of bed by at least 5 am; so that you would be through with your morning functions before 7 am and have an ample time to have your breakfast before heading out (and this depends also on whether you drive yourself or you are driven by others)

2.      Do Your Morning Routine

It is advisable to have a morning routine to follow in order to have a really good day. And the morning routine I mean here is not about taking your bath, throwing some powder on your face and rushing out like there is fire on the mountain.

The morning routine I am referring to here includes, drinking at least 2 glasses of warm lemon fused water, having a quiet time or meditation or devotion, doing at least a 20 minute exercise, now the exercise does not have to be something strenuous - brisk walking or jogging around the neighbourhood,   is good enough, emptying your bowel, bathing, bonding with your family members are all part of the morning routine.

3.      Visualize The Desired Result

Take a sneak preview in your mind's eye of how your day is going to be. And call it into being. Remember that we make our day the way it is, if you want to have a successful day, then you need to call it into being by doing the things that would make your day successful and this includes, being early at work, being friendly with your work mates and colleagues even if they are not disposed to being friendly with you, being in very good terms with your Boss or immediate Supervisor, not getting into quarrels or fights with anyone around you e.t.c.

4.      Prepare A To Do List

Well, this actually is supposed to be done the day before but however some people get so caught up with activities that they forget to do that. So prepare a to do list for your day. Write them down, don't just keep them in your head hoping to remember, you will forget. What's the project you are working on right now? What's the task that you did not finish the previous day and which has to be finished? What's that thing you have conceptualized but have not yet started? Write your to do list and stick to it like a bee to the pollen

5.      Have A Healthy Breakfast

Some people argue that they have no time to eat breakfast and so they prefer to skip it and eat a heavy lunch.

Well studies have shown that the best meal of the day is breakfast. And it's not just any type of breakfast, eating eba and egusi soup in the morning is breakfast alright but that would send you back to sleep rather than energize you for the work to be done for the day.

The breakfast that makes sense is the one that would supply you the calories you need to be active enough to see your work through before the noon lethargy sets in and that breakfast is protein based.

6.      Be The First To Arrive In Your Office

Make great efforts to be the first to arrive in your office even if you are the Boss. This gives you ample time to prepare to take on the day head on; gives you room to take a second look at your to do list and then get to work on them.

And if you are an Employee, being the first to be at your duty post every morning would definitely speak well for you before your Boss and your Supervisors and get you into their good books, you never can tell when you shall need a favour from them. Aside pleasing your Boss, it is also for your own good mental health as you prepare to become your own Boss sometime in the future

7.      Break The Hard Task Into Actionable Bits And Kick Off

The advise has always been to do the hard tasks first in the morning hours because that is when the brain has enough sugar supply to be able to concentrate on any serious work.

And to help you not to procrastinate over that hard task, the advise again is to break it down into little chunks that can be easily worked on.

So go ahead and break that hard task into actionable bits and then kick off without looking backwards

8.      Practice Healthy Working Habits

This is very essential, if you want to have a successful day. Healthy working habits include maintaining your sanity even when all around you are losing theirs, to do this, you have to make a conscious effort to be at peace with all your work mates and colleagues including those who want to war with you.

Speak ill of no one, gossip about no one and definitely not about your Boss or immediate Supervisor (they have moles in the office, who bring in reports to them and you never can tell if the one who wants to open your mouth to speak ill about your Boss is a mole)

Remember to treat your spine and waist very friendly

Do not sit at that Computer for a long time, take breaks in-between jobs to allow for blood flow

Drink lots of water while in the office (not coffee or carbonated drinks)

As much as you can help it, avoid fast foods and junk foods

9.      Don't Leave Any Work Undone Which Is Supposed To Be Done

If you stick to your to-do-list, then you surely would be able to finish all your tasks for the day.

It is important to remind you that procrastination is leaving undone what needs to be done for the day; so don't procrastinate over any job that needs to be done, do it and get over it, that's the way to have a successful day

10.    Don't Take The Office Work To Your Home - Practice Being Present When You Are Home

If you had a job that came in late (close to closing time) and you were unable to do it, then leave it on your table and mark it as important to be treated first thing in the morning the following day but never take any office work back to your home.

When it is said "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's"  this is part of it. Leave office jobs in the office and do them there; and when you are home, do the home jobs.

Be physically and spiritually present at home when you are home. It helps to build a solid home.

There you have them, my 10 highly essential ways to prepare for a successful day.

Put them into practice and I guarantee you that you would come up shinning.

Wednesday                            6th June 2018 Morning Vibes With Dr. Jerry - the First Hello and welcome to #MorningVibesWithDrJerryTheFirst-Episode 265 Title:           18 Things I Wish Someone Told Me When I Was 18 This morning I was reading a book at my favorite beach-side coffee shop when an 18-year-old kid sat down next to me and said, “That’s a great read, ain’t it?”  So we started chatting. Morning Vibes With Dr Jerry - The First-Episode 87/Tomorrow Is Not Promised

Thursday    30th November 2017 Morning Vibes With Dr. Jerry - the First Hello and welcome to #MorningVibesWithDrJerryTheFirst-Episode 87 Title:          Tomorrow Is Not Promised, Live In The Now!! I have taken a look at how people postpone for tomorrow what they can do today and it really bothers me. It bothers me, not because I am not a believer in planning for tomorrow or even next tomorrow but because the thought process behind the action is that of saying that we have all the time in the world and so there's no reason to hurry. It is this thought process that has left many a man unable to fulfill their destinies and a whole number of others unable to finish the projects that they have started. The story is told of the man who was the head of the family and was expected to pass information about the family to the younger ones, but he kept pushing it forward. Each time the young ones asked for info...
